The Budwig Diet – Supercharging your Omega-3s for Maximum Absorption!

In an effort to give you information and protocols that can be used along with standard treatments for cancer we are explaining the benefits of the Budwig diet.

The Budwig diet was created by Dr. Johanna Budwig, a German biochemist, back in the 1950s. The core idea is pretty simple: you mix cottage cheese (or quark, which is similar) with flaxseed oil and eat this combination multiple times a day. Dr. Budwig believed that this specific pairing was crucial because the sulfur-based proteins in the cottage cheese help your body absorb the omega-3 fatty acids from the flaxseed oil more effectively. The diet also emphasizes eating lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while avoiding processed foods, meats, and most fats except for flaxseed oil.

Dr. Budwig claimed that her diet could help fight cancer by improving how oxygen gets into your cells. Her theory was that cancer cells thrive in low-oxygen environments, and that the flaxseed oil-cottage cheese combo somehow helps restore proper cellular function and oxygenation. She also believed that modern processed foods and hydrogenated fats damaged cell membranes, and that her diet could repair this damage. Many people who follow the diet report feeling better overall, with more energy and improved well-being.

We believe, at Lumen Haelo, that adding simple and common sense protocols to your treatment plans is a helpful way of increasing the effectiveness of your treatment for cancer. We are not suggesting that you only use these treatments instead of what your doctor or oncologist recommends. But as a way of taking more control over your experience, this is an easy protocol.
